What If I’d Rather Not Share in a Group?

AT A GLANCE: What If I’d Rather Not Share in a Group?

The hesitation around the Monthly Reflection Session is rarely about cost or timing. It’s about joining a call with other women and being expected to take part.
This article covers what the session actually involves, why cameras are on at the start, and what to do if live group conversation isn’t where she wants to start right now.
What’s Actually Behind the Hesitation
Three things tend to show up together: privacy, fear of being judged, and not being used to this kind of online interaction.
Most group experiences online are passive: watching a webinar, scrolling a feed, sitting in on a call with the camera off. A Monthly Reflection Session is a conversation, and the expectation is that everyone takes part in some way.
Much of the hesitation comes down to the unknown: who else will be on the call, and how many people. What’s guaranteed is that mechanisms are in place for confidentiality, and that every participant is there for the same reason, to support her own wellbeing and take part in a constructive conversation.
What Happens When the Camera Comes On
At the start of each session, everyone turns their camera on for a quick check-in, with Elizabeth and with each other, confirming who’s joined and that everyone’s there to take part together.
The level of disclosure is entirely optional. Every participant chooses how much she wishes to share.
If the camera needs to come off at any point, audio-only is understood. The aim is to meet the circumstances of her life, so that she can attend, participate, contribute to the conversation, and still have that moment of reflection.
Why Reflect With Other Women
For some women, committing to a series of one-to-one coaching sessions is hard. A Monthly Reflection Session offers a different way to put her wellbeing at the top of her list: showing up for it is itself a signal to herself that it matters, and the session gives her a point in the month to actually look at what’s going on and what she’d like to change.
She could reflect alone. Doing it with other women adds something different: speaking her mind and hearing the same empathy back from women in similar situations has a particular effect on keeping attention on her own wellbeing. It creates a kind of accountability without needing a formal structure around it.
The session is designed to fit wherever it lands best in her month. If her schedule shifts, that’s accommodated too, either through the recap video or by rescheduling to another session.
If Live Group Reflection Still Isn’t Right for You
Essentials doesn’t include group sessions at all. It’s a no-group starting point, with START Wellbeing Coaching Sessions available one-to-one whenever she wants them.
Within Connect & Reflect, she can also register for a Monthly Reflection Session and choose not to attend live. Her wellbeing area is still covered in that month’s recap video.
Guided Growth doesn’t require group sessions either. The one-to-one coaching is the core of that tier, with group sessions available as an optional addition.
Not wanting to share in a group doesn’t mean missing out on the rest of the Women’s Wellbeing Lab. Essentials, one-to-one coaching, and the flexibility already in the Monthly Reflection Session itself mean there’s a way to start that fits around her life as it is.
Ready to Start, Without the GroupEssentials gives her a way into the Women’s Wellbeing Lab with no group commitment at all, just one-to-one support and the tools to begin where she is. |
FAQs: Monthly Reflection Sessions
Do I have to keep my camera on for the whole session?
No. Cameras are on for a brief check-in at the start, so everyone knows who they’re sharing the session with. After that, audio-only is understood if that suits her situation better.
What if I don’t want to share anything personal?
How much she shares is entirely her choice. Taking part doesn’t require full disclosure.
What happens if I register but decide not to attend live?
Her wellbeing area is still covered in that month’s recap video, or she can reschedule to another session within the month.
Is a group session required at every membership level?
No. Essentials has no group sessions at all. Guided Growth’s core is one-to-one coaching, with group sessions available as an optional addition.
Who else will be on the call?
The group varies each session. What stays consistent is the camera-on check-in at the start and an agreement on confidentiality before anyone shares.
